USC Warns of Man Posing as Building Manager Near University Park

Officials released a photo, instructing residents to confirm identities through property managers.

  • USC’s Department of Public Safety issued an alert after several reports of an impostor seeking entry under the pretext of fixing a water leak.
  • The encounters were reported at residences on the 1100 block of 28th Street and the 2600 block of Orchard Avenue near the University Park Campus.
  • Once inside, the man reportedly entered private rooms and asked inappropriate personal questions, including about romantic relationships.
  • In one incident, the suspect took a resident’s car key fob and later returned it the same evening.
  • DPS advised calling 213-740-4321 for University Park or 323-442-1000 for the Health Sciences Campus to verify credentials, and 911 for emergencies, noting no arrest or identification has been announced.
