USACE Mobile District Closes Select Parks as Federal Shutdown Takes Effect

Essential navigation and power operations continue under minimal staffing.

Overview

  • Specified USACE-operated parks and day-use areas across the Mobile District are closed starting Oct. 31 until further notice.
  • Registered campers must depart by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 unless directed otherwise, and affected reservation days will be fully refunded.
  • A limited number of water-access sites with standalone boat ramps remain available, but restrooms and other facilities are closed.
  • Jointly managed campgrounds and day-use parks continue normal operations, and no parks at Alabama Rivers Lake, Carter’s Lake, Black Warrior–Tombigbee, or Lake Okatibbee are affected at this time beyond routine seasonal closures.
  • Project offices are operating with minimal staff, powerhouses and navigation locks remain open, and the district directs the public to its park-status webpage and operations division for current updates.
