Overview
- Aimee Betro was convicted on charges of conspiracy to murder and related firearms and ammunition offences at Birmingham Crown Court after almost 21 hours of jury deliberation.
- Prosecutors relied on CCTV footage, DNA on gun parts and a discarded glove, mobile phone records and parcel forensics to link Betro to the plot.
- Disguised in a niqab, Betro attempted a point-blank shooting of shopkeeper Sikander Ali in September 2019 before her gun jammed and later returned to fire at his empty home in a revenge-driven attack.
- She was arrested in Armenia in July 2024, extradited earlier this year and stood trial over several weeks in a case involving multiple international law-enforcement agencies.
- Betro remains remanded in custody, denies involvement and is due to be sentenced on August 21.
