US warship sails through Taiwan Strait in show of force against China

The US Navy sailed a warship through the Taiwan Strait for the first time since China's encirclement exercise around Taiwan.
China recently concluded large-scale air and sea drills in the strait in retaliation for Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen meeting with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
The USS Milius sailed through the Taiwan Strait on Sunday in a routine transit.
The US Navy's 7th Fleet said the transit demonstrates the US commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Taiwan's government rejects China's territorial claims and says only the island's people can decide their future.
