Overview
- On December 5, the United States transferred 14 Mexican citizens from federal custody to Mexican authorities to continue serving their sentences under the bilateral treaty.
- The individuals were convicted of drug trafficking, firearms offenses, or both, according to the Justice Department.
- Their remaining prison terms range from 22 months to four and a half years, the DOJ said.
- The Office of International Affairs coordinated the transfers through the International Prisoner Transfer Program with support from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
- This was the third such transfer in 2025, with a total of 42 Mexican nationals approved for repatriation this year, and the program also facilitated the return of three U.S. citizens convicted abroad.
