US to Deliver $425 Million Military Aid Package to Ukraine Including Laser-Guided Munitions and Cold-Weather Gear

Support includes $300 million for drone-targeting munitions under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, and $125 million from existing U.S. stocks, as Biden administration prepares to announce 50th aid package for Ukraine amid ongoing conflict with Russia.

The new military aid package from the U.S. to Ukraine will total $425 million; $300 million of this will fund the procurement of laser-guided munitions for drone targeting through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
An additional $125 million from U.S. stocks will provide Ukraine with munitions for High-Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, alongside artillery rounds, anti-tank missiles, demolition equipment, and cold-weather gear.
This allocation of aid is the 50th package provided to Ukraine by the U.S. and resembles a similar package delivered a week prior, totaling $150 million.
The total amount of $425 million aims to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, especially over the winter months, aiding in resilience against the ongoing airstrikes and drone attacks initiated by both sides.
Despite President Biden's request for nearly $106 billion in supplemental funding, congressional action is yet to be seen amidst growing Republican resistance.
