U.S. Stock and Bond Markets to Close on Labor Day, Reopen Tuesday

SIFMA confirms the fall trading calendar, including Thanksgiving early closes.

Overview

  • The NYSE and Nasdaq will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, and will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2.
  • U.S. bond trading will also pause Sept. 1 per SIFMA, with normal hours resuming Sept. 2.
  • The next closure is Thanksgiving, with both markets shut Thursday, Nov. 27, and early closes Friday, Nov. 28—bond trading ending at 2 p.m. ET and the NYSE at 1 p.m. ET.
  • The bond market also observes Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 13, and Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
  • Christmas remains a full market holiday on Thursday, Dec. 25.
