U.S. Stock and Bond Markets Closed for New Year’s Day 2025

Trading will resume on January 2, with another closure scheduled on January 9 to honor former President Jimmy Carter.

The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange are closed on January 1, 2025, for New Year’s Day, resuming regular trading on January 2.
U.S. bond markets closed early on December 31, 2024, and will also remain closed on January 1.
Major international stock exchanges, including those in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo, are also observing closures for the holiday.
The next U.S. market closure will occur on January 9, 2025, to observe a national day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away on December 30, 2024, at the age of 100.
Banks and federal services, including Federal Reserve Banks and the U.S. Postal Service, are also closed on New Year’s Day.
