US Soldier Travis King to Plead Guilty to Desertion and Assault

Travis King will admit to five charges, with nine others dismissed, in a court-martial hearing scheduled for September 20.

King crossed into North Korea from South Korea in July 2023 and was detained for two months.
He will plead guilty to desertion, assault, and disobeying an officer among other charges.
Nine charges, including possession of child pornography, will be dismissed as part of the plea deal.
King's plea and sentencing will take place at Fort Bliss, Texas.
He expressed gratitude to those who supported him and withheld judgment based on initial allegations.
