U.S. Social Security to Offer In-Person Help in San Salvador Jan. 26–29

Bookings run through the Costa Rica Federal Benefits Unit, reflecting a limited outreach timed with the January cost-of-living increase.

Overview

  • SSA representatives will assist retirement, disability and survivor beneficiaries in San Salvador during a four-day visit from January 26 to 29, 2026.
  • Access is by appointment only through the Federal Benefits Unit in San José, Costa Rica, with requests directed to FBU.CostaRica@ssa.gov using the subject line “Appointment SSA – San Salvador.”
  • Emails should include full name, Social Security number, date of birth, a Salvadoran contact phone and the reason for the visit, and attendees are advised to bring identification and relevant SSA correspondence.
  • The outreach is organized by SSA’s regional office and coordinated locally with the Government of El Salvador and the U.S. Embassy, and it does not establish a permanent office.
  • The timing coincides with a 2.8% COLA taking effect in January 2026, and officials expect high demand for the limited in-person slots.
