U.S. Soccer names Matt Crocker sporting director

Southampton's Matt Crocker will become U.S. Soccer's sporting director, replacing Earnie Stewart.
Crocker will oversee all U.S. national teams and lead the search for a new men's national team coach.
Crocker spent three years at Southampton managing men's, women's, and youth teams.
The U.S. wanted a sporting director with experience in women's soccer, a qualification Crocker met.
Several top candidates declined to interview for the role before Crocker was appointed.
