U.S. Sanctions Three Palestinian Rights Groups Over ICC Work on Israel

Overview

  • On Thursday, the Treasury’s OFAC added Al-Haq, Al Mezan and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights to the SDN list under Executive Order 14203, blocking U.S. assets and most transactions with a short wind-down permitted.
  • Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the organizations had directly engaged in ICC efforts to investigate and prosecute Israeli nationals without Israel’s consent.
  • The targeted NGOs condemned the designations as draconian and said their accountability efforts, including cooperation with the ICC, will continue.
