Funds from the oil sales reportedly support Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missile development, and U.S.-designated terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
The sanctions include shadow fleet vessels and maritime firms involved in falsifying shipping documents to evade detection.
