Overview

  • On June 10, 2025, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on five individuals and five charities accused of supporting the financial operations of Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
  • The targeted charities are Al Weam Charitable Society in Gaza, Filistin Vakfi in Turkey, El Baraka Association in Algeria, Israa Charitable Foundation in the Netherlands, and Associazione Benefica La Cupola d’Oro in Italy.
  • Treasury officials assert these groups diverted humanitarian donations to fund Hamas’s military wing and PFLP activities rather than relief efforts.
  • Deputy Secretary Michael Faulkender said the sanctions highlight the importance of securing humanitarian aid channels from terrorist exploitation.
  • The Treasury pledged to sustain pressure on funding networks to disrupt resources for groups that still hold hostages seized during the October 7, 2023 attack.
