• Passport fees combine a State Department application fee with a $35 acceptance fee, totaling for adults $165 for the book, $65 for the card, or $195 for both, and for minors $135, $50, or $150 respectively.
• Optional speed-ups cost $60 for expedited processing and $22.05 for expedited delivery after printing.
• Applicants using Form DS-11 must not sign until instructed by an acceptance agent, and the form must be printed single-sided on letter-size paper in portrait format with the image filling the page.
• Physical proof of U.S. citizenship and government photo ID are required, digital citizenship records are not accepted, and payment is typically by check or money order to “U.S. Department of State.”
• The passport book enables international air, sea, and land travel, while the lower-cost card is valid only for land and sea entry from Canada, Mexico, or Bermuda, with adult validity at 10 years and minors at five.
