Overview

  • Sealed bids for the Amadea close Sept. 10, with a $10 million deposit required and auction services provided by National Maritime Services.
  • Federal marshals have kept the 348-foot vessel docked in San Diego since its April 2022 seizure in Fiji under Operation KleptoCapture.
  • Taxpayers have borne roughly $32 million in maintenance and storage costs, including about $850,000 in monthly fees during its San Diego berth.
  • The government is seeking to recover those expenses from Eduard Khudainatov, whose claim to the yacht was rejected as a front for the sanctioned owner.
  • Estimated at $300–325 million, the Amadea boasts six decks with a helipad, infinity pool, gym, spa and accommodations for up to 16 guests and 36 crew.
