U.S. Olympic Ski Jumper Patrick Gasienica Dies at 24 After Motorcycle Accident

Patrick Gasienica, an American ski jumper who competed in the 2022 Winter Olympics, died at the age of 24 in a motorcycle accident according to officials.
Gasienica suffered blunt force trauma in a crash in Bull Valley, Illinois, the McHenry County Coroner's office reported.
Gasienica helped the U.S. ski jumping team finish 10th in the team event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and had individual finishes of 49th in normal hill and 53rd in large hill.
Gasienica honed his skills at the Norge Ski Club in Illinois, which said he was a "fierce competitor, role model, and friend."
The ski jumping community is mourning the loss of Gasienica, who emerged as a top young talent in the sport.
