U.S. Navy Sailor Dies After Going Overboard in Red Sea

The sailor, identified as Oriola Michael Aregbesola, was deployed on the USS Mason conducting operations amid the Israel-Hamas war.

The U.S. Navy identified Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Oriola Michael Aregbesola, 34, as the sailor who died after going overboard in the Red Sea.
Aregbesola was deployed on the USS Mason, part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, conducting operations in the Red Sea.
His death, resulting from a non-combat related incident on March 20, is currently under investigation.
Commander Eric Kohut praised Aregbesola for embodying the selfless character and thoughtful warrior spirit of a U.S. Navy sailor.
The USS Mason has been operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area since November, supporting operations amid the Israel-Hamas war.
