Bryce Pedicini, a Japan-based US Navy sailor, has been charged with espionage for allegedly passing classified information to a foreign government.
Pedicini is accused of giving documents to foreign agents at least seven times between 2022 and 2023, including photos showing a military computer screen.
He has been in custody since May 2023 and faces a court martial while the investigation continues.
Pedicini served on the USS Higgins, a guided-missile destroyer, and had joined the Navy in 2008.
Other Navy service members have also been arrested on charges of providing classified information to China, highlighting a broader issue of espionage within the Navy.
