US Navy Intercepts Second Houthi Attack in Gulf of Aden in Two Weeks

The guided-missile destroyers USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane successfully defended commercial vessels from drone and missile strikes by Iran-backed Houthis.

The attacks occurred on December 9 and 10 as the US Navy escorted three US-owned and flagged merchant vessels through the Gulf of Aden.
Houthi forces launched multiple drones and one anti-ship cruise missile, all of which were intercepted without causing injuries or damage.
This marks the second successful defense by the USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane against Houthi attacks in the region within two weeks, following a similar incident from November 30 to December 1.
The US Central Command emphasized its commitment to protecting international shipping and regional partners from threats posed by the Iran-backed Houthis.
Houthi militants claim their attacks are part of efforts to pressure the US to end its support for Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
