U.S. Marshals Arrest 19-Year-Old Wanted in Cleveland Killing in West Virginia

He is being held pending extradition to Cuyahoga County to face an aggravated murder charge.

Overview

  • Waymon Donat, 19, was taken into custody around 2 p.m. on Oct. 8 in Masontown by the U.S. Marshals-led Mountain State Fugitive Task Force.
  • Agents arrested him outside a residence near the 1200 block of Cale/Cales Road without incident with assistance from Preston County deputies, state corrections officers, and regional drug task forces.
  • Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force investigators developed information that he had left Ohio and was staying in the Morgantown area, leading to the West Virginia arrest.
  • The case stems from an April 5 shooting in Cleveland in which 18-year-old Ricky Walker was found fatally shot in a crashed vehicle at East 55th Street and Cedar Avenue.
  • Police say preliminary findings indicate gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles, and investigators have not released a motive as the inquiry continues.
