US imposes visa restrictions on Hungary over passport fraud concerns

The US has imposed new restrictions on visa-free travel for Hungarian passport holders under the Visa Waiver Program.
The restrictions reduce validity periods and number of entries allowed, and only apply to Hungary among Visa Waiver Program members.
The US has longstanding unresolved security concerns over Hungary's simplified naturalization program started in 2011.
The program enabled many ethnic Hungarians abroad to get citizenship and vote in Hungary, benefiting PM Orban's party.
The US restrictions come amid strained relations with Hungary over its stance on Russia and NATO membership.
