  • Atlanta Track Club said a lead vehicle followed a police motorcycle off the mapped route after cones were not set at a key intersection.
  • The club’s review found race-assigned officers left to respond to an “officer down” call involving a retired Fulton County deputy who was struck by a car.
  • Leaders Jess McClain, Emma Grace Hurley and Ednah Kurgat ran roughly 1 kilometer extra and fell to ninth, 12th and 13th after being turned back.
  • Organizers accepted responsibility and will match prize money: McClain receives the first-place amount, while Hurley and Kurgat split second- and third-place totals.
  • USATF ruled the course was inadequately marked yet said results cannot be changed; Molly Born remains listed as champion, and team selection for Copenhagen will be reviewed before May.
