US Government Relaunches Free At-Home COVID-19 Test Program

Americans can order four free COVID-19 tests per household starting at the end of September.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced the return of the free COVID-19 test distribution program.
Households will be able to order four free at-home tests from COVIDTests.gov, which will detect current COVID-19 variants.
The program's relaunch comes as the US anticipates a winter surge in COVID-19 cases and other respiratory illnesses.
Tests will be shipped directly to homes by the US Postal Service and can be used through the end of the year.
The CDC recommends updated COVID-19 vaccines for everyone aged 6 months and older to combat circulating variants.
