- ATTOM counted 35,697 properties with foreclosure filings in August, up 18% from a year earlier and down 1% from July.
- Lenders initiated 24,254 foreclosures, a 16.9% year-over-year rise with a negligible 0.2% monthly decline.
- Completed repossessions reached 4,077, increasing 41% from August 2024 and 5% from the prior month.
- Foreclosure rates were highest in Nevada, South Carolina and Florida, with one filing for every 3,987 housing units nationwide.
- Texas, Florida and California posted the most foreclosure starts, and the worst metro rates were in Lakeland, Columbia, Chico, Cleveland and Ocala.
