Overview
- The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City has advised its staff and U.S. citizens to avoid the Hemiciclo a Juárez–Paseo de la Reforma route and refrain from political activity under Mexican law.
- Frente por la Vivienda Joven and allied groups will stage the third march on July 26 at 14:00, proceeding from Hemiciclo a Juárez to the U.S. Embassy.
- Earlier demonstrations on July 4 in Roma-Condesa and July 20 in Tlalpan saw vandalism and rock-throwing at people perceived as foreigners.
- Authorities plan to close Avenida Juárez and Paseo de la Reforma and suspend service on Metro Lines 3, 4 and 7 during the demonstration.
- The city has enacted Bando 1 “Por una Ciudad Habitable y Asequible con Identidad y Arraigo Local” to secure housing rights, preserve neighborhood life and curb speculative rent hikes.
