US Defender Emily Fox Signs for Arsenal Women
Fox to Reunite with Former North Carolina Teammates at Arsenal, Filling a Position Gap Left by Injured Laura Weinroither
- United States defender Emily Fox has signed for Arsenal Women, the most successful club side in English league history.
- Fox will team up with two of her former team-mates from the University of North Carolina, Alessia Russo and Lotte Wubben-Moy.
- Fox has been signed by Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall to play in a position where he has struggled for players since Austrian international Laura Weinroither suffered a rupture to her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in May.
- Fox first appeared for the senior national team back in 2018 but was not selected in the squad which emerged victorious at the Women's World Cup the following year or the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
- The transfer of Fox had been widely predicted. The club had even accidently leaked a picture onto the Getty library from their winter training camp in Albufeira, Portugal in which Fox is visible in the background wearing Arsenal kit.
