U.S. Crypto ETFs Suffer About $1.25 Billion in Weekly Outflows

Heavy, concentrated withdrawals from bitcoin and ether funds have slowed ETF demand and leave markets sensitive to near‑term macro data.

Overview

  • Data providers reported roughly $1.25–$1.29 billion of net redemptions from U.S. spot crypto ETFs for the week Oct. 5–9, driven mainly by bitcoin and ether products.
  • Bitcoin ETFs registered about $681 million of withdrawals and ended a recent inflow run, with two large daily exits on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 that accounted for most of the weekly loss.
  • Ethereum ETFs posted roughly $542 million in outflows, their worst weekly showing since January, and BlackRock’s ETHA accounted for about 88% of those redemptions.
  • Smaller flows split across other tokens: Solana’s 14‑week inflow streak ended with about $25 million of outflows while XRP ETFs extended a 13‑week inflow run with roughly $11.3 million added.
  • Price and market risk remain mixed as bitcoin held near $82,000–$84,000 despite the withdrawals, Ecoinometrics shows 30‑day BTC ETF purchases still positive but slowing, and investors are watching Treasury yields and U.S. inflation data on Oct. 14 for the next catalyst.
