Overview

  • The State Department notified Congress on August 6 of the potential $404 million Foreign Military Sale to upgrade Australia’s MC-55A Peregrine fleet to Baseline 2.
  • The package encompasses major and minor airframe modifications, spare parts, consumables, repair-and-return services and U.S. government and contractor engineering and logistics support.
  • Greenville, Texas-based L3Harris will be the principal contractor responsible for the Baseline 2 modifications and sustainment work.
  • Australia’s four MC-55A aircraft, which secured supplemental type certification in late 2024, are slated for delivery by the end of 2025.
  • According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the sale will bolster Australia’s electromagnetic warfare and intelligence capabilities without shifting the regional military balance or affecting U.S. defense readiness.
