U.S. Charges Reveal Alleged Iranian Plot to Assassinate Trump

The U.S. Department of Justice has charged three men, including an Iranian national, in connection with an alleged plot by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi dismissed the allegations as unfounded and called for improved relations between the U.S. and Iran.
The plot reportedly involved Farhad Shakeri, an IRGC asset, who remains at large in Iran, and two New Yorkers, Carlisle Rivera and Jonathon Loadholt, who are in custody.
The alleged assassination plot against Trump is part of broader accusations that Iran is targeting U.S. citizens, including dissident journalist Masih Alinejad.
Fears are growing that Trump's return to the presidency could lead to a renewed 'maximum pressure' campaign against Iran, heightening the risk of military confrontation.
