Overview
- Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase and other major institutions confirmed nationwide branch counters will be closed for two 48-hour holiday observances.
- During the closures, customers will be limited to online and mobile banking and ATMs, while high-value or in-person–verified transactions will wait until branches reopen.
- Processing slowdowns are most likely across Nov. 26–28 and Dec. 24–26, so time-sensitive payments and domestic or international wires should be moved up.
- Government offices, courts, licensing departments, public schools, libraries and USPS facilities will also pause in-person operations during the federal holidays.
- Many large retailers and supermarkets close for Christmas and some also close for Thanksgiving, though policies vary by company and location, so shoppers should check local hours.
