A senior U.S. official says no resources are directed to the plan, with funding gaps having stalled its progression.

Overview

  • A slide deck reviewed by Reuters outlined eight large-scale “Humanitarian Transit Areas” inside Gaza and at potential sites in Egypt and Cyprus to house, deradicalize and reintegrate Palestinians.
  • The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and contractor SRS have denied submitting or planning these camps, saying the slides are not GHF documents and that their work remains focused on food distribution.
  • A senior U.S. administration official confirmed the proposal is not under consideration and that no resources have been allocated to it.
  • In June the U.S. State Department approved $30 million for GHF’s aid operations in Gaza, a program criticized by the U.N. for breaching impartiality and safety standards.
  • Humanitarian experts and Hamas representatives warn the transit area concept risks forced displacement and violates principles of impartial aid delivery.
