Overview
- DHS and CBP disclosed 10 awards made between Sept. 15 and 30 to add about 230 miles of new barriers and nearly 400 miles of surveillance and detection technology across California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
- Seven of the contracts went to BCCG Joint Venture, including the El Paso 3 project at roughly $850 million and Tucson 1 at about $607 million.
- Plans include waterborne barriers in Texas, with 40 and 23 miles slated for the Del Rio Sector and a $96.1 million, 17‑mile segment near Brownsville in the Rio Grande Valley.
- Secretary Kristi Noem issued waivers to expedite roughly nine miles in the San Diego Sector and approximately 30 miles in New Mexico within the El Paso Sector.
- These are the first projects financed under the One Big Beautiful Bill, with DHS indicating additional contracts and construction phases are forthcoming.
