US Attorney Breon Peace to Resign After Indicting Adani Group

Breon Peace, who led the US fraud case against Adani Group, will step down on January 10, ahead of Donald Trump's second term as president.

Breon Peace, US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, announced his resignation effective January 10, 2025.
Peace's office indicted Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani and associates in November 2024 on charges of defrauding US investors through a bribery scheme tied to Indian government contracts.
The Adani Group has denied the allegations, calling them baseless, and claimed the charges stem from a misunderstanding of one contract involving Adani Green Energy.
The indictment caused significant financial fallout for the Adani Group, including market losses, project cancellations, and scrutiny from investors and partners.
Carolyn Pokorny, currently First Assistant US Attorney, will serve as Acting US Attorney following Peace's departure.
