US Approves $404M MC-55A Baseline 2 Upgrade for Australia

Overview

  • The State Department has notified Congress of a $404 million Foreign Military Sale for Baseline 2 upgrades to Australia’s four MC-55A Peregrine jets.
  • The package covers major and minor airframe modifications, spare parts, consumables, repair and return support plus US government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics services.
  • L3Harris Technologies of Greenville, Texas, is designated as principal contractor to carry out the upgrade and sustainment work.
  • Implementation will not require additional US personnel nor harm US defense readiness or alter the basic military balance in the Western Pacific.
  • Deliveries are set to begin before the end of 2025 after supplemental type certification delays pushed initial timelines from 2023.
