U.S. Antisemitic Incidents Soar Following Hamas Attack

The Anti-Defamation League reports a 360% increase in antisemitic incidents, with Jewish institutions and educational settings particularly affected.

  • Antisemitic incidents in the U.S. have risen by 360% in the three months following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
  • The ADL tracked a total of 3,283 antisemitic incidents between Oct. 7 and Jan. 7, marking a significant increase compared to the same period in 2022.
  • Of these incidents, 1,353 involved verbal or written harassment, 553 involved vandalism, and 60 were physical assaults.
  • At least 628 incidents were reported against Jewish institutions, such as synagogues, and roughly two-thirds of the total could be directly related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
  • Significant numbers of incidents were also reported in educational settings, with at least 505 on college campuses and 246 in K-12 schools.
