U.S. and Ukraine Report Progress in Geneva Talks as Washington Revises Peace Draft

Washington says it is revising its draft following a "very productive" Geneva round.

Overview

  • Andrii Yermak said the first session with the U.S. delegation in Geneva concluded as very productive with very good progress toward a just and lasting peace.
  • U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is making changes to its proposals based on point-by-point discussions and suggestions raised in the talks.
  • A follow-up session later Sunday will include European partners to continue work on joint proposals with Kyiv.
  • Yermak said final decisions on the emerging proposals will be made by President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
  • Ukrainian officials, including Zelenskyy and NSDC Secretary Rustem Umierov, said the current draft already incorporates many of Ukraine’s key priorities.
