Overview

  • The US Department of the Air Force’s July 16 Record of Decision cited environmental, mission support and cost considerations in rejecting a beddown of up to 12 RSAF F-15SG aircraft at Andersen AFB.
  • Andersen AFB will still receive new parking aprons, taxiways, maintenance hangars, upgraded fuel lines and enhanced security fencing even as plans for earth-covered munitions magazines are cancelled.
  • Singapore’s Ministry of Defence and the US Department of Defense confirmed mutual discontinuation of discussions on a permanent fighter detachment and pledged to maintain periodic short-term RSAF deployments for large-area training in Guam.
  • The RSAF is coordinating with the US to set up an F-35 training detachment at Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Arkansas to support its next-generation fighter fleet.
  • The original proposal stemmed from a 2019 memorandum of understanding and a 2023 environmental study, underscoring enduring USSingapore defence cooperation and Singapore’s reliance on overseas training airspace.
