- On July 17, the US Treasury’s OFAC and the EU Council designated Hector “Niño Guerrero” Guerrero Flores and five key Tren de Aragua lieutenants for sanctions
- All properties and interests of the sanctioned individuals under US and EU jurisdictions have been blocked and frozen
- Officials highlighted the gang’s involvement in drug trafficking, human smuggling, extortion, sexual exploitation and other violent crimes as grounds for the measures
- Rewards of up to $5 million for information leading to Guerrero’s arrest and additional bounties for his affiliates remain in effect
- Authorities pledged intensified cross-border cooperation to dismantle the organization’s transnational criminal network
