Overview
- Air Force Global Strike Command said the MH-139A reached initial operational capability on August 10, 2026, a milestone publicly announced on August 31 and marking the type as cleared for the ICBM security mission.
- The Grey Wolf is nearly 50% faster than the Vietnam-era UH-1N Huey, can carry roughly twice as many troops, and adds modern defensive equipment and updated command-and-control systems to speed response across wide, remote missile fields.
