US Adds 11 Chinese Entities to Blacklist, Removes Three Indian Organizations to Advance Nuclear Cooperation

The US aims to counter China's military advancements while strengthening energy and technology ties with India through these actions.

  • The US Department of Commerce added 11 Chinese entities to its Entity List for activities deemed harmful to US national security and foreign policy interests.
  • Ten of the listed Chinese entities were targeted for their role in advancing China's military modernization through artificial intelligence research, while one entity was linked to advanced lithography technology for military end-use.
  • Simultaneously, the US removed three Indian entities—Indian Rare Earths, Indira Gandhi Atomic Research Center (IGCAR), and Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC)—from the restrictive Entity List.
  • The removal of Indian organizations is intended to facilitate advanced energy cooperation, including joint research, clean energy supply chain resilience, and peaceful nuclear collaboration between the US and India.
  • US officials emphasized that these actions reflect a strategy to penalize support for China's military growth while rewarding partnerships that align with shared foreign policy and energy security goals.
