Overview

• Two people were detained in a coordinated operation by municipal police, the Army, the National Guard and the state Guard on the Uruapan–San Juan Nuevo road in Jardines del Pedregal.
• Authorities reported seizing a short pistol, ammunition, explosives, drugs, cash and a drone, and the mayor also displayed tactical gear and a satellite internet system taken from the vehicle.
• The municipal president identified one detainee as René B. A., alias “El Rino,” described as an alleged CJNG jefe de plaza for Uruapan and San Juan Nuevo.
• The detainees were placed under the custody of the FGR in Uruapan, and local reports said the facility was under military protection as security operations expanded across the city.
• The mayor issued a citywide alert and urged residents to stay home due to reports that armed groups could mobilize to try to rescue the detainees.
