Overview

  • On August 1, provincial authorities brought the main fires at the wildland-urban interface under control, halting threats to nine neighborhoods in Palpalá and nearby towns.
  • More than fifteen forest fire hotspots remain active across the rugged slopes of the Serranías de Zapla, compelling crews to sustain intense containment efforts.
  • Aerial suppression has begun with helicopter sorties and an air tanker en route to support ground teams.
  • Volunteer firefighters from Tilcara, Maimará and San Salvador de Jujuy are joined by rapid-attack brigades deploying water pumps, tanker trucks and manual digging tools.
  • Temperatures reaching 30 °C and dense dry pastures in sectors like 150 Hectáreas have accelerated fire spread toward homes, though no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
