  • Inegi’s July Lines of Poverty set the urban expanded basic basket at 4,719 pesos per person, marking a 3.6% annual increase and the highest level since records began in 1992.
  • The rural basic basket rose to 3,397 pesos per person, up 3.1% year-on-year and requiring 13,588 pesos for a four-member rural household.
  • The urban food basket surged 4.3% to 2,453 pesos per person, driven by an 18.0% rise in beef, 8.3% in pasteurized milk and 7.8% in prepared foods.
  • Non-food costs also climbed, with education, culture and recreation up 5.7% and housing maintenance services rising 3.8%.
  • Combined figures push the monthly poverty threshold for a four-person urban family to 18,876 pesos, underscoring growing affordability pressures despite moderating headline inflation.
