Charleston's Emma Navarro makes deepest Grand Slam run, top seed Iga Swiatek ousted by teenager Linda Noskova
- Emma Navarro, the 22-year-old tennis player from Charleston, made her deepest run yet at one of pro tennis' Grand Slam events, the Australian Open, but fell in the third round to Dayana Yastremska.
- Navarro, who is ranked No. 26 in the world, has a 10-2 record for 2024 and is projected to rise to No. 23 in WTA rankings.
- Top women's seed Iga Swiatek was ousted by No. 50-ranked Linda Noskova, becoming the first teenager to beat a No. 1-ranked woman at the Australian Open since 1999.
- Swiatek's loss leaves No. 12 Zheng Qinwen as the highest-ranked player and two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka as the only past major winner in the top half of the draw.
- In the men's draw, No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 3 Daniil Medvedev and No. 6 Alexander Zverev have reached the fourth round.
