Overview
- The Union Public Service Commission held the Civil Services Preliminary Examination on May 24, 2026, and candidates have been awaiting results since then.
- UPSC released a provisional answer key on May 27 for the first time and invited objections, which the commission has now reviewed ahead of finalising results.
- The final Prelims outcome will be published on the UPSC website as a PDF listing roll numbers of those who qualify for the Main exam and no individual Prelims scorecards will be issued.
- About 5.49 lakh candidates sat for Prelims this year for 933 advertised vacancies, with three new centres added at Kanpur, Meerut and Bhubaneswar to ease logistics.
- Qualifying is decided by General Studies Paper I scores while the CSAT is only qualifying with a 33% minimum, and candidates who make the PDF must complete the Detailed Application Form before the Mains scheduled to begin on August 21, 2026.
