UPSC Issues Final ID, Photo and Security Rules for CSE Mains

The measures require extra passport photos and mandatory face checks to reduce ID disputes and speed verification at exam venues.

Overview

  • The Union Public Service Commission issued the formal exam-day notice on Wednesday requiring candidates to carry two recent passport-size photographs for each mains session as a backup for authentication.
  • All candidates must undergo mandatory face authentication at the venue and may be asked to complete a written undertaking with a photograph if authentication fails or shows a discrepancy.
  • Candidates must present the original photo ID listed on their e‑Admit Card and those unable to do so can fill the venue supervisor’s undertaking to proceed with the examination.
  • Electronic devices and valuables such as mobile phones, smart watches, cameras, programmable devices and storage media are strictly banned and venues will not provide safekeeping for personal items.
  • The CSE Main exam will run on August 21, 22, 23, 29 and 30 in two shifts and the notice reminds candidates to read session-wise instructions on their e‑Admit Card; the commission will open a question-paper representation portal from August 31 to September 4.
