UPSC Authorized for Voluntary Aadhaar-Based Candidate Verification

New measures aim to curb identity fraud and malpractice in civil service examinations following Puja Khedkar case.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has permitted Aadhaar-based authentication for UPSC candidate verification.
This initiative is voluntary and will be applied during registration and various stages of exams and recruitment tests.
The move follows the case of Puja Khedkar, who was found guilty of fraudulent exam attempts and misuse of quotas.
The UPSC will use biometric and demographic data for verification, adhering to UIDAI guidelines.
Additional measures include the use of facial recognition and AI-based CCTV surveillance to prevent cheating.
