• UPPL working president Rwngwra Narzary announced the slate after recommendations from the Central Core Committee were approved by party president and BTR CEM Pramod Boro, with the notification issued by general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary.
• The first batch blends sitting MLAs, incumbent BTC executive members and senior leaders to project experience and continuity in governance.
• Notable nominees include Lawrence Islary for Salakati, Jolen Daimary for Darangajuli, Chandan Brahma for Kajalgaon, Raju Kumar Narzary for Sorabil and Dr. Nilut Swargiary for Rowta.
• The list also features Wilson Hasda (Srirampur), Afjal Hoque Sarkar (Fakiragram), Rabiram Brahma (Banargaon), Ranjit Basumatary (Baokhungri), Saikhong Basumatary (Chirang) and Dhananjay Basumatary (Manas Serfang).
• The contest is expected to be multi-cornered with BPF, BJP and Congress in the fray, and BJP has decided not to partner with UPPL for the BTR polls, which are slated by the end of next month.
