UPMC Altoona ER Nurse Airlifted After Attack as Patient Held Without Bail

UPMC reports encouraging updates on the nurse’s recovery, with staff support resources in place.

  • Police identified the injured nurse as Travis Dunn, who suffered a fractured skull, brain bleed and other facial injuries before being flown to UPMC Presbyterian for emergency surgery.
  • Officers were called just before 10 a.m. Saturday and found the nurse unconscious on the ER floor as colleagues rendered aid, according to the criminal complaint.
  • Bradley Scott Lloyd, 40, of Tyrone, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly attacking the nurse and attempting to flee.
  • Police say Lloyd surrendered after a Taser was aimed at him, after which he was restrained on a bed and sedated.
  • Lloyd was arraigned with bail denied due to a history of violence and a Missouri warrant, is held in Blair County Prison, and has a preliminary hearing set for Nov. 12.
